CranioSacral (SM)

Cranio-sacral therapy (CST) is a light touch treatment technique designed to release tensions in the central nervous system. The therapist applies gentle pressure to parts of the skull (cranium), spine, sacrum and pelvis to release restrictions and maximize mobility of the important nervous system structures (brain, nerves, soft tissue and the fluid that protects your brain and spinal cord). This allows the entire body to regain a more relaxed and efficient functional state.  When our nervous system can function optimally, our bodies are better able to fight disease, cope with stress and experience overall improvement in health and wellness. These techniques allow your body to self correct which may allow for longer lasting benefits.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a form of bodywork intended to decrease pain, increase range of motion, and rebalance the entire body. This is done by applying a low load of pressure on the tissue over a longer period of time.  In so doing, it stretches the fascia, releasing the bonds that exist between the fascia, muscles, bones and internal organs. Fascia is the connective tissue that covers all muscles, organs, and skeletal structures of the body. For many, this type of treatment provides greater long term benefits than a traditional massage.

Visceral Manipulation

‘Viscera’ is the term used to describe our internal organs (stomach, liver, gallbladder, etc.).  This technique focuses on the internal organs and their surrounding structures. Like MFR, visceral manipulation (VM) evaluates the entire body to identify the source of pain or dysfunction. Your session begins with hands on ‘listening’ to your body and feeling for restricted or diminished movement patterns anywhere in the body. Using specialized stretches with gentle pressure, VM techniques facilitate the body's ability to adapt and restore healthy function.

Graston Technique

Graston Technique® incorporates the use of specially designed stainless steel tools combined with massage techniques (referred to as instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization).  This is an evidence based approach that allows both the client and the therapist to identify areas of restriction and successfully break down fascial and scar tissue restrictions. An excellent intervention for both acute and chronic conditions.

Acupressure

Acupressure is based on one the most ancient principles of healing - that simply touching a specific point on the body will release stress and improve health in the body. In an acupressure session, firm pressure is applied directly to points along different Acupuncture meridians in your body. This simple and powerful technique has been shown to be very effective in treating many issues including stress/anxiety, headaches, backaches, and even insomnia.

Orthopedic Massage

Orthopedic massage is a style of massage therapy focused on treating painful conditions that affect the soft tissues of the body. Because orthopedic massage is designed to treat medical conditions, it requires extensive training. It involves releasing tense muscles, helping to stretch and lengthen tight muscles and tendons, and decompress rigid joints. My goal is to restore full health to the soft tissues of your body, both treating your specific conditions as well as improving your overall well-being.
